A three-alarm fire at a building under construction Tuesday morning has been put out by firefighters in Regent Park.

Fire crews were called to a three-storey building at Queen Street East and Sumach Street at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday after it caught fire.

It was extinguished just before 11 a.m.

No injuries were reported, and it’s believed the building was empty at the time of the blaze.

Fire investigators will be looking into what caused the blaze, but say it’s too early to determine whether it is being considered suspicious.

Toronto Fire District Commander Colin Giffin said the fire starting in the far east unit and spread to the basement, but they were able to contain it to those two units.

Pedestrians and drivers are urged to avoid the area.
