A woman has been charged with several offences after Toronto police officers say a series of fires were set in the city’s north end.

According to a statement issued by the service Sunday afternoon, multiple calls reporting fires along Bathurst Street, south of Sheppard Avenue West, came in at around 6:45 a.m.

The statement alleged the suspect started a fire beside a lowrise residential building before going on to start two fires in the front vestibules of two highrise apartment buildings.

Investigators said a fire was later set at a shed behind a house before a separate fire was discovered at a dumpster at a highrise residential building.

No one was injured in any of the incidents.

Officers said the accused was found by 32 Division officers and arrested.

The statement said 30-year-old Valentyna Popova was charged with five counts of arson endangering life, break and enter and breach of probation. It said she appeared in a Toronto courtroom Sunday morning.

The allegations haven’t been proven in court.
